“Too Dumb for ‘The View’?”: Megyn Kelly Torches Karine Jean-Pierre After Reported Rejection

Former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is no stranger to tough questions—but this one might sting more than most: How intellectually unimpressive do you have to be to get turned down by “The View”?

That was the sharp jab thrown by SiriusXM host Megyn Kelly on Thursday, following a Politico report suggesting Jean-Pierre had angled for a spot at the all-female ABC talk show but was ultimately passed over. And Kelly didn’t hold back.

How dumb do you have to be to get rejected from ‘The View’? Oh my God, it’s horrifying,” Kelly exclaimed during the latest episode of The Megyn Kelly Show. “She must’ve had to go on some sort of antidepressant after that. I don’t even know what I’d do. I don’t think I could come to terms with that.”

Ouch.

The biting commentary came during a segment with BlazeTV host Stu Burguiere, as the two discussed what they see as a growing series of embarrassments trickling out of the Biden administration—both past and present.

“You know, the stuff about ‘The View’ is amazing,” Burguiere said. “I mean, do you know how intellectually unimpressive you must be to not be able to impress people on ‘The View’?”

To be clear, The View—a daytime talk show famous for its often fiery, unscripted debates between co-hosts like Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar—has never exactly been confused with Meet the Press. The show’s roster has included former reality stars, comedians, and journalists, with a mix of political perspectives (though mostly left-leaning) and a reputation for prioritizing personality over policy expertise.

So when Politico reported that Jean-Pierre, the first Black, openly lesbian press secretary in U.S. history, had explored a potential post-White House role on the show—only to be met with silence—it didn’t take long for critics to pounce.

“She’s a black, lesbian, former Biden spokesperson. That’s like the golden ticket for daytime TV,” Kelly snarked. “And they still said no? You are dumber than dirt!”

The criticism was as personal as it was political.Advice for NBC: Let Megyn Kelly be unlikable

A Brutal Take on a Fading Political Star

The Politico report, published Wednesday, painted Jean-Pierre as a once-rising star now struggling to land softly after her White House exit. Sources said she joined “The View” co-hosts in New York in an apparent effort to test the waters. But no offers came. No big move. No next step. Just a handful of media profiles and now—apparently—a book.

On the same day as the Politico piece, Jean-Pierre announced she’s releasing a memoir that will include bombshell allegations of betrayal from within the Democratic Party, which she claims led to President Biden’s abrupt withdrawal from the 2024 race.

In a surprising twist, she also declared she’s leaving the Democratic Party altogether.

The former press secretary had been one of Biden’s most visible defenders during his rocky final year in office, repeatedly assuring Americans that the then-president was mentally sharp—even after his much-criticized June 2024 debate performance against Donald Trump.

“You truly are as dumb as a goat,” Kelly riffed, still stunned by the reported rejection. “They’ll take anybody over there [on The View], anybody! And you couldn’t make the cut?”

Burguiere piled on with a metaphor worthy of a sports analyst: “You’re starting three steps from home, in between third base and scoring, and you can’t get across home plate? It’s unbelievable.”

According to the BlazeTV host, the show’s casting strategy isn’t exactly rigorous: “Their whole thing is basically, ‘Let’s do a nationwide search for the four dumbest people on the planet and put them around a table.’ And they were like, ‘Sorry, Karine, even for us—you’re too terrible.’”

Jean-Pierre’s Defense Record Under Fire

It’s been a brutal few months for Jean-Pierre, who faced growing scrutiny last year over her role in spinning Biden’s increasingly visible signs of cognitive decline.

Her most infamous moment came in July 2024, when she appeared on “The View” to insist the president was “sharp as ever,” just weeks after his disastrous debate performance where he stumbled, lost his train of thought, and struggled to complete answers.

Republican critics were quick to label her statements as gaslighting, especially as videos of Biden stumbling and speaking incoherently went viral. Jean-Pierre dismissed those clips as “cheap fakes,” blaming the GOP for manipulating footage to mislead the public.

But a new book by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson, titled Original Sin, suggests those concerns weren’t just Republican talking points. Drawing on interviews with White House insiders, the book reveals that discussions about Biden’s cognitive health were ongoing inside the administration. At one point, some even reportedly considered using a wheelchair to help him appear more stable on camera.

The book has sent shockwaves through Washington—and Jean-Pierre appears ready to cash in on the drama.

A Book, a Breakup, and a Burned Bridge

In her upcoming memoir, Jean-Pierre promises to reveal the “betrayal” that she says ultimately convinced her to leave the Democratic Party. While details remain under wraps, sources close to the former press secretary say she felt thrown under the bus after loyally defending Biden—even when it meant damaging her own credibility.

“She went out there every day, stuck to the script, deflected hard questions, and took all the heat,” one anonymous former colleague told Politico. “And when things started unraveling, she became a scapegoat.”

Now, as she prepares to rebrand herself outside the Biden bubble—and apparently, outside the Democratic establishment—critics are questioning whether there’s still a place for Jean-Pierre in the world of media or politics.

If “The View” is no longer an option, what is?

What Comes Next?

Despite the storm of criticism, Jean-Pierre still commands a certain media cachet. Her trailblazing identity and White House credentials make her an appealing guest on cable news panels, and her book could draw significant attention if it includes insider details on Biden’s fall from grace.

But whether she can reinvent herself as a media personality—or find redemption in the eyes of her former political allies—remains unclear.

As the Megyn Kelly segment makes painfully obvious, the knives are out. And in the post-Biden political shakeup, there may not be many safe harbors left.
