Carson Daly Shares Daughter Goldie’s Adorable Father’s Day Tribute: “He Just Talks on TV”

On Father’s Day, it’s often the simplest gestures that leave the biggest impressions—and this year, TODAY co-host Carson Daly received a gift from his youngest daughter that might just top them all.

In a heartfelt Instagram post on June 15, Daly shared a school project completed by his 5-year-old daughter Goldie, affectionately known as “Go-Go,” to mark the holiday. The blue-framed message—typed out in her teacher’s font but filled with Goldie’s voice—offered a priceless snapshot of how she sees her famous dad.

“Gonna miss these Father’s Day kid projects from pre-K!” Daly captioned, clearly savoring the sweet innocence of early childhood tributes.Carson Daly's 4 Kids: All About Jackson, Etta, London and Goldie

“He Works at the TODAY Show and Just Talks”

The project began with the basics. “My Daddy’s name is Carson, and I call him Daddy,” Goldie wrote. She then gave an earnest, and hilariously blunt, description of her father’s appearance: “He has grayish/greenish eyes and black hair. He is tall, taller than my Mom. I don’t know how old he is, but he is older than my mom.”

Goldie didn’t stop there—she had details. From noting that her dad likes to wear black sweatshirts, pants, and boots on cold days to pointing out that he owns “a big bunch of hats,” her description was both charming and oddly specific. His favorite colors? “Black, blue, and gray,” she reported.

As for his dining preferences, Goldie made one thing clear: her dad loves a good steak.

“He likes to eat steak and go to the Steak House where they have steak, French fries, pasta and spaghetti,” she wrote. “He really likes to go out on the motorcycle and drive around the block.”

A Kid’s-Eye View of Stardom

Of course, no Father’s Day project for Carson Daly would be complete without a nod to his television career. And Goldie didn’t disappoint.

“He works at the TODAY Show and just talks,” she explained with amusing honesty. “He is also on The Voice. He’s a judge and holds a microphone and talks.”

Though Carson has hosted The Voice for years, he’s not technically a judge—a detail he addressed in his Instagram caption with good humor: “ps- I wish I was a ‘judge!’ on The Voice!

Still, to Goldie, her dad is someone important. He has a job that involves microphones, television, and talking—a lot of talking.

While Daly might be best known for his on-screen presence, it’s clear that to Goldie, he’s most beloved in his everyday dad roles. She wrote that they play tag together and that he sometimes picks her up from school. She even mentioned, sweetly, that “when Daddy is home, he sometimes puts me to bed.”

The project ends with the purest note of all: “I love my Daddy!”

Carson closed his post with a warm Father’s Day message to all fellow dads: “Happy Father’s Day dads & friends! Hope you’re playing golf, drinking something strong & eating some beef.”

A Father of Four and Proud of It

Over the years, Daly has shared glimpses of his family life with wife Siri and their four children: Jackson, Etta, London, and youngest daughter Goldie. The couple, who married in 2015 after a decade-long engagement, have long prioritized family life despite their busy careers.

Goldie was born in March 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning to reshape daily life around the world. At the time, Carson shared that naming their fourth child felt especially meaningful.

“We had a short list of names that we liked, but nothing was sticking its neck out,” he explained in a video during lockdown. “And I thought about it—you know, this is our fourth kid. She seems like the pot of gold at the end of our family rainbow.”

That’s how the name Goldie came to be—and it’s stuck, with the little one earning the nickname “Go-Go” around the house.

The Legacy of Little Moments

Carson Daly, who began his career in radio before becoming a TRL mainstay and later a TODAY anchor and The Voice host, has often spoken about how fatherhood changed him. In interviews, he’s described parenting as his most important role and family as his biggest source of purpose.

And perhaps that’s why this preschool project has struck such a chord with fans.

In a media world often defined by high-gloss, curated images of celebrity life, Goldie’s simple tribute cuts through with clarity and authenticity. For all the big moments Daly has had in his career, this small blue frame with a few lines from his daughter might just be the most unforgettable.

Because sometimes, being remembered simply as “Daddy”—the guy who talks on TV, plays tag, and tucks you in at night—is the greatest honor of all.
