Carol Vorderman, 62, Shares the Real Secret Behind Her Youthful Look—and Why She’ll Never Step on a Scale Again
Carol Vorderman is no stranger to the public eye. Best known for her role on Countdown and more recently for her unapologetic voice on social media, the 62-year-old TV presenter continues to turn heads—not just for her brainpower, but also for her ageless figure and confidence. Now, in a refreshingly candid interview, Vorderman has opened up about how she maintains her enviable appearance without obsessing over numbers on a scale—or even cooking.
“I Don’t Let Doctors Tell Me My Weight”
During her appearance on the Table Manners podcast with Jessie and Lennie Ware, Carol made a surprising revelation: she hasn’t known her weight since 1999. In fact, she refuses to allow medical professionals to reveal the number, even during routine check-ups.
“I haven’t weighed myself since I did my detox diet back in 1999,” she said. “I just don’t want to know. I’ve found I’m much happier that way.”
That decision wasn’t born from ignorance, but rather a desire for peace of mind. Like many women, Vorderman says the scale was once a source of pressure. But over time, she realized health and happiness weren’t tied to a number.
“I Eat What I Like – But I Do It My Way”
Carol’s approach to food is as unorthodox as it is liberating. She admits she doesn’t cook anymore—her fridge is filled with simple, nutritious items, but she’s far from a home chef.
“A variety of vegetables, a small amount of coleslaw, fish, turmeric shots—which I adore—fruit, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese,” she listed during the podcast. “But I don’t cook. I’ve stopped cooking at home.”
Instead, she enjoys dining out and doesn’t deprive herself. She eats what she enjoys—pasta, fish and chips, and even butter. “I love proper fish and chips,” she gushed. “Not French fries—I want the big, chunky chips.”
Though she treats herself, Carol balances indulgences with a focus on vegetables and health-conscious habits. She admits she keeps sweets out of the house for one simple reason: she can’t resist them.
“If someone gives me chocolates, they’ll be gone before I even think about eating a vegetable,” she laughed. “So, I just don’t keep them in.”
The Detox That Changed Her Life
Carol’s weightless philosophy began over two decades ago. In the late ’90s, she undertook a 28-day detox diet that cut out meat, dairy, wheat, sugar, and potatoes.
“It was a full detox, and it was controversial at the time. Nutritionists didn’t approve,” she recalled. “But now, that kind of cleanse is pretty standard.”
The detox marked a turning point. She lost weight, but more importantly, she said it reshaped the way she thought about food and health. The effect was so powerful that she never returned to the scale—or to her old eating habits.
“I haven’t bought regular potatoes since then,” she said. “It changed everything I eat.”
Still Strong in the Spotlight
Carol’s revelations come ahead of her much-anticipated return to reality television. She’s set to reappear on I’m a Celebrity… South Africa: All-Stars, following her memorable run in 2016. Back then, she lasted 18 days in the jungle and was the eighth celebrity to be voted out, earning praise for her cheerful personality and good-humored spirit.
“I’m A Celebrity really changed me,” she admitted. “I absolutely loved it the first time around, and I can’t wait to go back. We still have a WhatsApp group!”
Carol’s fitness is no secret, either. Her Instagram page is filled with clips of her working out—whether she’s lifting weights, doing squats, or stretching in a crop top and leggings, she exudes energy and positivity.
She captioned one post: “OFF TO GYM AGAIN TOMOZ.”
At 62, Carol’s commitment to staying active is both admirable and inspiring. Her goal isn’t to meet a standard of beauty—it’s to feel good in her own skin.
No Apologies, No Shame
What sets Carol apart isn’t just her fitness, but her confidence in talking openly about aging, body image, and living on her own terms. She’s not chasing youth—she’s redefining what it means to age well.
“I don’t feel deprived,” she emphasized. “I eat what I want, I stay active, and I don’t stress over it.”
And clearly, it’s working. Fans continue to applaud her for showing that beauty and strength aren’t limited by age or defined by rigid rules. Whether it’s resisting diet culture or showing off her gym gains, Vorderman has become a role model for embracing change without apology.
A Legacy Beyond Numbers
Carol’s lifestyle may not be for everyone, but her message resonates: joy, balance, and self-acceptance matter more than the number on a scale or the label on a meal. As she prepares for her next adventure in the jungle, it’s clear she’s not just surviving—she’s thriving.
