R. Kelly’s Legal Team Begs Trump for Help Amid Shocking Alleged Prison Murder Plot and Overdose

In a desperate plea for help, the legal team representing disgraced R&B star R. Kelly has reached out to President Donald Trump, urging him to intervene in what they describe as a life-threatening crisis unfolding behind prison walls.

The 58-year-old former music icon, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, is currently serving a 31-year sentence for a series of sex trafficking and child exploitation crimes. But his lawyers claim the punishment has morphed into something far darker—and potentially deadly.R. Kelly hospitalized after alleged overdose in prison - ABC News

“Only Trump Can Save Him,” Lawyer Claims

Attorney Beau B. Brindley made headlines this week after filing an emergency motion for Kelly’s immediate release from federal custody. In the documents, Brindley alleges an orchestrated murder plot within the prison system, claiming prison officials solicited a known neo-Nazi inmate to assassinate Kelly.

“We have explicit evidence that officials solicited an inmate to murder him while in custody,” Brindley said.

“President Trump is the only person with the courage and the power to fight corruption in the prosecution of public figures and stomp it out.”

According to Brindley, the legal team is currently in open discussions with individuals close to Trump, hoping to secure either a presidential pardon or sentence commutation.

The Alleged Plot and the Overdose

The alarming situation escalated when Kelly was rushed to the hospital this week after reportedly overdosing. His attorneys are now accusing prison staff of deliberately administering a dangerous dose of medication, calling it “no mistake.”

“It was a dose that jeopardized his life and could have ended it,” Brindley stated.

The overdose came shortly after explosive claims emerged from Mikeal Glenn Stine, a terminally ill member of the Aryan Brotherhood, who alleged that prison staff offered him early release in exchange for murdering Kelly.

Stine eventually backed out of the alleged agreement—but claimed another gang member was later recruited to kill both him and Kelly.

“The threat to Mr. Kelly’s life continues each day that no action is taken,” the legal team warned in their court filing.

From Solitary to Silence

Kelly is now reportedly being held in solitary confinement, with no access to phones or his family. Brindley says the singer has even stopped eating, fearing his food might be poisoned.

“Keeping him behind bars under these conditions is cruel and unusual punishment,” Brindley told People.

“He is not safe in federal custody.”

Both the Bureau of Prisons and the White House have declined to comment on the ongoing legal drama.

While R. Kelly has no known personal relationship with Trump, he was once a longtime resident of Trump Tower in Chicago. That loose connection—and Trump’s growing public stance against what he calls “corrupt prosecutions of celebrities”—is fueling hope among Kelly’s lawyers.

Last month, Trump even hinted during an Oval Office press briefing that he would consider pardoning Sean “Diddy” Combs, who faces similar charges in the same federal court as Kelly.

“If I think someone was mistreated, it wouldn’t matter whether they like me or don’t,” Trump said at the time.

Brindley believes that mindset may extend to Kelly—especially in what he describes as a “PR disaster for the U.S. prison system.”

From King of R&B to Convicted Felon

Once hailed as the “King of R&B”, R. Kelly’s fall from grace has been one of the most dramatic in music history.

In 2022, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison in New York on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. A year later, he received an additional 20-year sentence in Chicago for child sex crimes—though 19 of those years were allowed to be served concurrently, effectively adding just one more year to his time behind bars.

His convictions included:

Three counts of coercing minors into sexual activity

Three counts of producing sex tapes involving a minor

The 2019 documentary Surviving R. Kelly helped reopen public scrutiny around his long history of alleged abuse, sparking renewed criminal investigations.

What Happens Next?

Despite the gravity of the allegations, the federal courts have not yet responded to the motion for release, and President Trump has not issued any public comment regarding a potential pardon.

But Kelly’s legal team says time is running out.

“The need for a pardon becomes more imminent by the day,” Brindley stressed.

The latest chapter in R. Kelly’s legal saga adds yet another explosive layer to one of America’s most infamous criminal cases—and raises urgent questions about inmate safety, prison oversight, and the role of presidential power in cases involving celebrity convicts.
