Though sidelined with a left quad strain, the rookie didn’t stay quiet. She walked straight onto the court during the third quarter, confronting the refs over a call she clearly didn’t agree with.

The moment was caught on camera, and, unsurprisingly, it blew up online within hours.

Caitlin Clark’s In-Game Frustration Caught on Camera

The moment occurred after Marina Mabrey was whistled for a blocking foul. Clark appeared to argue that the foul should have been ruled a take foul. The referees did not respond to her on-court protest.

“Caitlin Clark doesn’t understand why Mabrey’s foul wasn’t a take foul. Never got an answer,” reporter Scott Agness posted alongside the clip on X.

Indiana Fever Lose Sydney Colson and Sophie Cunningham During Third Straight Defeat

Clark was not the only player missing time for the Indiana Fever. Veteran guard Sydney Colson left in the second quarter with a leg injury. Sophie Cunningham exited in the fourth after rolling her ankle while setting a screen. Head coach Stephanie White provided no update postgame.

“No update yet. We’ll wait to hear from our training staff,” White told reporters.

Cunningham scored 10 points in 27 minutes before her exit, going 7-for-7 from the free throw line. She joined the Fever this offseason as part of a four-team trade that included the Phoenix Mercury, Dallas Wings, and Connecticut Sun. In her first three games, she averaged 5.3 points and 4.0 rebounds off the bench.

The Fever’s injury troubles come at a tough time, with a challenging stretch of games ahead.

After hosting the Washington Mystics on Tuesday, they’ll face Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky before hitting the road to play the defending champion New York Liberty. Indiana narrowly lost to New York 90-88 last weekend after surrendering a second-half lead. Clark couldn’t get off a final shot and later voiced her frustration over contact from Natasha Cloud.

White emphasized that the team’s priority is Clark’s long-term health.

“The biggest thing is we have to think long term. We’re not putting Caitlin at risk for injury. It’s a long season, so we want to be extra cautious,” White said.

The Sun snapped a five-game losing streak behind Marina Mabrey’s 26-point performance, while Bria Hartley added 18 points—though she also committed 11 turnovers.

Now, the Fever may head into Tuesday’s matchup with only one healthy guard in the rotation.
