Caitlin Clark may be sidelined with an injury, but that hasn’t stopped her from stealing hearts. On a night when she wasn’t even in uniform, the Indiana Fever star still managed to grab the spotlight, and this time, it wasn’t because of her deep threes or flashy assists.
A sweet pregame moment with a baby went viral, and fans couldn’t get enough. What happened before tipoff on Wednesday had everyone smiling, even if Clark wasn’t suiting up for the Fever-Washington Mystics game.
Caitlin Clark Shares Adorable Moment With Baby Zayn Before Fever Game
Clark missed Wednesday’s game against the Mystics due to a left quad strain, but she still traveled with the team to Baltimore. The game was played at CFG Bank Arena, and although Clark was inactive, her presence was clearly felt.
Before the game, Clark was spotted holding assistant coaches Karima Christmas-Kelly and Austin Kelly’s baby, Zayn, in a lighthearted moment that quickly went viral. She smiled at the cameras and gave the little one his moment in the spotlight, saying, “This is your moment! Smile!”
Dressed in blue jeans, a dark green jacket, and white sneakers, Clark wasn’t in game gear, but she was still clearly a fan favorite. Yahoo Sports shared the clip on social media, and within minutes, it was everywhere.
While the team prepped for action, Clark made time for fans. She signed autographs and posed for pictures courtside. Even when she’s not on the floor, Clark knows how to give fans a reason to cheer.
Caitlin Clark Injury Updates: Fever Star Could Miss Four Games
The viral moment was a reminder that while Clark is off the court, she’s still very much part of the team. The injury she suffered during Indiana’s loss to the New York Liberty on Saturday has her sidelined for at least two weeks and has been diagnosed as a left quadriceps strain.
The current expectation is that Clark will miss four games, including the upcoming games against the Connecticut Suns, Mystics, and Chicago Sky – but that could change depending on her progress.
For now, there’s no official word on her return, but Clark isn’t letting the injury slow her down mentally. Instead, she’s finding other ways to stay connected with teammates, coaches, and fans. Before going down, Clark was off to a strong start in her sophomore season, averaging 19 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 9.3 assists per game through four outings.
