We know that one of the main objectives for Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton this summer will be to bring some reinforcements to Martin St-Louis’ top 6 on offense.

The Canadiens’ management will definitely be trying to add more offensive talent, and in that sense, a first player has just made his intentions known.

Claude Giroux Would Like to Join the Montreal Canadiens

We’re talking about a forward who will be free as a bird this summer, becoming an unrestricted free agent who can sign with the team of his choice.

The excellent André Roy reported on BPM Sports that one of Claude Giroux’s childhood friends told him that Giroux would, in fact, like to play for the Habs.

“One of Claude Giroux’s childhood friends told me he would like to come to Montreal.”

That’s interesting!

Giroux truly wants to play for the Montreal Canadiens before retiring. If he’s serious about it and his contract demands are reasonable, I don’t see why Kent Hughes wouldn’t jump at this opportunity.

At the right price, would you like to see Claude Giroux join the Montreal Canadiens organization?

At 37 years old, Giroux collected 50 points in 81 games this season with the Ottawa Senators, after recording 64 points in 82 games the previous season.

He also added a strong 5 points in 6 playoff games against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Over his NHL career, Giroux has tallied 1,116 points in 1,263 games, plus 86 points in 101 playoff games.

What a career!
