Washington Commanders Starting WR Carted Off The Field After Suffering Serious-Looking Injury At Practice

One moment, Noah Brown was diving for a catch. The next, he was throwing his helmet in frustration and disappearing under a towel as a cart carried him off the field. What began as just another minicamp rep quickly became a nightmare every NFL team avoids.
The Washington Commanders’ practice came to a tough halt Wednesday after the wide receiver crumpled to the ground during 7-on-7 drills. Brown, a key piece of the offense and fan favorite after last year’s miracle grab against the Bears, walked to the sideline slowly, but something wasn’t right. Minutes later, staff drove him into the facility, out of sight and with no answers.

According to Nicki Jhabvala, the injury occurred during a routine rep in team drills. Ben Standig of The Athletic reported that Brown fell while making the catch, limped to the sideline, and trainers carted him off. On his way off the field, Brown threw his helmet in frustration, never a good sign when it comes to injury outcomes.
Washington will wrap up minicamp Thursday, leaving fans waiting for the team to release an official update on Brown’s condition. With less than three months until the Commanders open their season against the New York Giants on September 7, the timing couldn’t be worse.
Brown re-signed with the team in March on a one-year deal, positioning himself as the likely third receiver behind Terry McLaurin and newly acquired Deebo Samuel. His chemistry with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels had already begun to turn heads, most notably after his clutch Hail Mary catch against the Bears last October, a play many fans still talk about.

Now, head coach Dan Quinn might have to reassess the depth chart if Brown misses significant time. While the Commanders have other pass-catching options, replacing Brown’s experience and rapport with Daniels could prove difficult.
The team hasn’t shared a formal diagnosis yet, but they could provide more clarity on Thursday. For now, Washington will hold its breath and hope its WR room doesn’t take a significant hit before training camp even begins.
