The Dallas Wings announced unfortunate news regarding one of the WNBA’s brightest stars on Friday.

The Chicago Sky will not see Wings rookie point guard Paige Bueckers in the teams’ rematch on Saturday because she is in the concussion protocol. After the Sky’s 97-92 win Thursday in Chicago, the Wings evaluated Bueckers and put her in the protocol.

She will now be forced to miss at least two games.

She and teammate Arike Ogunbowale pushed the Sky to the final minute, but ultimately allowed Chicago to secure their first victory of the season.

Tyasha Harris could start in place of Bueckers. However, she was listed as questionable with a knee injury for Saturday’s game after not playing in Thursday’s game.

After missing the Sky game, Paige Bueckers will miss Dallas’ road game against the Seattle Storm on Tuesday.

Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers is expected to miss at least the next two games after being placed in concussion protocol. She suffered a concussion during a 97-92 loss to the Chicago Sky on Thursday.

Bueckers, the WNBA No. 1 overall pick, has averaged 14.7 points, 6.7 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game during the first six games of her rookie season.

Bueckers averaged 19.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 4.4 rebounds while shooting 53.4% from the field during her final season with UConn.

While Bueckers had a forgettable WNBA debut, she’s since proven exactly why she was the top pick in this year’s draft and one of the best prospects to enter the league in recent years.

She’s fifth in the league in assists, and among rookies, she’s second in scoring, third in rebounding, first in assists, second in steals, and tied for second in blocks.

Bueckers is everything Dallas thought she would be.
