We’re all so thrilled to know that Ivan Demidov will be finishing the season with the Montreal Canadiens. However, we shouldn’t forget the human side of things.

At the end of the day, he’s a 19-year-old kid who will need to adapt to a new country, a new arena, a new language, a new culture, a new league, a different rink size, a new head coach, new expectations, new teammates, and so many other new things.

 

You get the idea.

However, in his very interesting interview with Marco D’Amico, we learned something very reassuring for Demidov.

He won’t be alone.

That could make a huge difference when it comes to his adjustment, and it’s excellent news that shouldn’t be overlooked in my humble opinion.

He’s also taking the off-ice transition very seriously.

Moving to the other side of the world is a major step at any age, especially at 18, but Demidov is taking the leap with support.

He will be accompanied by his girlfriend, Katya, as he begins this new chapter.

“All the paperwork is done, and I plan to leave with my girlfriend, Katya,” said Demidov Tuesday morning.

This will really help him in his transition to a completely different way of life.

Shoutout to Katya! I guarantee she’ll make a huge (positive) difference in this new life for the young Canadiens forward.

It’s really reassuring to see that he’ll be well-supported, and hats off to her for following Demidov!
