Erin Andrews Opens Up About Husband Jarret Stoll, His Quirks at Home, and Their Journey to Parenthood

Sports broadcaster Erin Andrews is known for her poise on camera and her candid personality off of it. On a recent episode of her podcast, Calm Down with Erin and Charissa, co-hosted with Charissa Thompson, Andrews offered fans a humorous and heartfelt glimpse into her personal life — particularly her relationship with her husband, former NHL player Jarret Stoll.

Andrews, who has been married to Stoll since 2017, didn’t hold back when describing how her tough-as-nails athlete husband behaves behind closed doors. While Stoll made a name for himself as a rugged, physical player in the National Hockey League — playing over a decade and racking up more than 140 goals — Andrews joked that he’s anything but fearless when it comes to odd noises at home.

“He can like, beat the sh*t out of guys when he was on the ice and be so tough and hit the crap out of people,” Andrews said, laughing during the podcast. “But, if there’s one noise in our house, it’s just like he and Howie [our dog] are the biggest freaking wusses. It’s so bad.”

Stoll, who played professionally from 2002 until his retirement in 2016, spent time with several NHL teams including the Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and Minnesota Wild. Known for his gritty style and leadership on the ice, he won two Stanley Cups with the Kings in 2012 and 2014. But at home, according to Andrews, he’s far from the enforcer fans once knew.

“He’s not this macho man when it comes to being in our house at night,” she added. “I’m the one who ends up getting out of bed to check what the noise was.”

Despite the playful teasing, Andrews’ love and admiration for her husband are evident — and the couple recently entered a new, deeply meaningful chapter of their life together.

After nearly a decade-long battle with infertility, Andrews and Stoll finally became parents this past summer. The couple welcomed their son, Mack, on June 28, marking the culmination of an emotional and exhausting journey marked by hope, setbacks, and ultimately, joy.

Andrews was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016, a moment that drastically altered the course of her life. While she successfully underwent surgery and recovered, her ability to conceive naturally was impacted, and the couple turned to in vitro fertilization (IVF) as their best option to have a child.

Over the years, Andrews endured several failed rounds of IVF, a process she has spoken openly about in the past. She has been an advocate for normalizing conversations around fertility struggles, especially among women in high-pressure careers.

“I think it’s important for women to talk about this,” she said in a previous interview. “It’s not easy. It’s emotionally and physically draining, and there are no guarantees. But if more of us share our experiences, we can at least feel less alone.”

Eventually, the couple decided to move forward with surrogacy. After finding a surrogate and undergoing the final embryo transfer, they knew this would be their last attempt. The stakes were high — emotionally, financially, and psychologically.

Then, on June 28, 2023, their son Mack was born.

“It was the happiest moment of our lives,” Andrews shared on the podcast. “All the years of heartache, doctor visits, injections, surgeries, and waiting — it all led to this. Holding him for the first time made everything worth it.”

The couple has largely kept their son out of the spotlight, but Andrews hasn’t shied away from expressing the overwhelming joy and gratitude she feels every day. Parenthood, she says, has changed both her and Stoll in the best ways.

“We’re exhausted, sure, but we’re also just in awe,” she said. “Jarret is such a softie now. I always knew he’d be a great dad, but seeing him with Mack just melts my heart. He’s so hands-on, so gentle. It’s beautiful.”

Though their life now revolves around diapers, sleepless nights, and early morning feedings, the couple still makes time to laugh together — including at each other’s expense. Andrews’ anecdote about Stoll jumping at every creak and rattle in their home was just one example of the playful dynamic that keeps their relationship strong.

“I think being able to laugh, especially during the hard times, is what keeps us connected,” Andrews said. “We’ve been through a lot — fertility issues, health scares, career changes — but we always come back to humor and love.”

As she continues to balance her career in broadcasting with her new role as a mother, Andrews remains committed to sharing her story and encouraging others who may be going through similar struggles.

“I want other women out there to know that there’s no shame in any of this,” she said. “Whether it’s IVF, surrogacy, or choosing not to have children at all — your path is your own, and it’s valid.”

With a new baby in the house, a loving husband by her side (even if he’s afraid of the dark), and a supportive community of fans and listeners, Erin Andrews is embracing this new chapter with the same strength and authenticity that have defined her entire career.
